Summer Soiree Brings in $10K!

The 1st Annual Surfrider Summer Soiree put on by the Portland Chapter of Surfrider Foundation was held at the Holocene located on SE Morrison on Thursday, July 25th. Over 300 people attended helped to raise over $10,000 at the event, which included a surf movie, art show, silent auctions and raffles. Check out more photos from the event here!

In addition to raising public awareness about what the Portland Chapter of Surfrider Foundation does, the event brought in a significant amount of capital to help support the chapter’s growing clean water campaign initiative, which includes a variety of programs, projects and water quality work within Portland and along popular stretches of the north coast. “Our playgrounds are intrinsically connected by water, from source to sea and it’s important we protect the areas where we love to play”, says Portland Chapter Chair Matthew Spencer. “Whether on the mountain snow, within the urban watershed or in our ocean, clean water is essential to the places we love”.

The “Clean Water Campaign’s” mission is to protect and restore the watersheds of Portland and the North Coast through education, advocacy, and volunteer stewardship. Programs to benefit include: Green Streets & Storm Drain Marking; Ocean Friendly Gardens; Oaks Crossing Park Restoration; and Blue Water Task Force water quality testing. Along with an overall thanks to the many businesses and individuals that came together with auction and raffle donations along with cash sponsorships a special thanks goes out to Dick’s Sporting Goods who exceeded our expectations as our Presenting Sponsor. Read the full press release below:
