The City of St. Petersburg, Florida is exploring a polystyrene ban on City grounds and at City events.
In 2014, our Suncoast Chapter started advocating for the city of St. Pete to adopt more eco friendly meassures, they propsed a polystyrene (foam) ban. The reduction of polystyrene helps to decrease the need for fossil fuels, which are used for these wasteful and toxic single use plastics which often end up as litter in our marine environments. On December 14th, we had a VICTORY! as the Mayor and Commissioners voted to pass a polystyrene ban on City grounds and at City events.
