Upcoming Chapter Elections

Elections for the chapter’s executive positions are almost here. This is your chance to shape our future. The nomination process will begin at February’s chapter meeting, with elections scheduled for the March meeting.

Positions available: (click here for more information) 

  • Chair: Leads chapter meetings and performs duties as the chapter’s top representative
  • Vice Chair: Performs duties as needed and leads in the absence of the chair
  • Secretary: Takes notes at meetings, and keeps record of meetings and events.
  • Treasurer: Maintains chapter financial records

Minimum requirements for executives

You must be a current Surfrider member who has attended at least 2 Portland chapter meetings and 2 chapter events.

Expectations for chapter executives:

  • Serve a 2-year term (April 2014 - March 2016)
  • Commit 2-20 hrs per week
  • Attend the regularly scheduled chapter meetings, executive meetings, phone conferences, and/or participate in email communication
  • Lead or organize at least one event/cleanup per year

The nomination process:

  • Nominations begin at the February chapter meeting and continue until the March Chapter meeting. (Meetings held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at SE Lucky Lab.)
  • Nominees must be elected by other chapter members. (You cannot nominate yourself.)
  • Each nominee must meet the minimum requirements.
  • To nominate someone, email Chair@portland.surfrider.org, contact any exec or staff member, or attend the February/March meeting.
